SESC Franca: facade cladding with perforated panels
SESC Franca, located in the state of São Paulo (Brazil), is a building designed for cultural, sports, and social activities. Designed by the architecture firm SIAA, the building faces Avenida Alonso y Alonso, one of the city’s main access routes.
Within this urban context, the building envelope needed to meet both architectural and functional requirements. To achieve this, a facade system using STONEO panels was selected, incorporating perforated panels that give the project its identity while addressing the ventilation needs of certain areas of the building.
Perforated design that enhances ventilation and architectural expression
The perforated panels were installed on the facade facing Avenida Alonso y Alonso. This area contains spaces that require significant air extraction to the exterior.
The use of perforated panels maintains the visual continuity of the envelope while facilitating airflow from the interior of the building to the outside. In this way, the facade acts as a filter that protects openings and enables natural ventilation without compromising a cohesive architectural image.
In addition, the perforated design enhances the visual connection between interior and exterior, creating a continuous language that lends the overall composition a striking aesthetic.

Development of the perforation design
The perforation pattern was developed through collaboration between SIAA Arquitetos and ULMA’s Architecture Office.
The architects initially presented several design proposals for the perforations. Based on these concepts, ULMA’s Architecture Office supported the adaptation of the pattern to ensure compatibility with the facade system and to meet technical requirements for safety and installation.
Once the final design was defined, the panel layout was developed, ensuring a balanced composition that integrates with the building’s geometry.
The Stoneo Pure Slate texture in color M03, together with the custom perforation pattern developed specifically for this project, creates a contemporary envelope that brings visual unity and character to the building.
STONEO facade cladding with perforated panels
In addition to offering high strength, durability, and stability in varying weather conditions, our Stoneo material allows facade customization through different perforation patterns.
Perforated panels expand the design possibilities of our facade system.
Their main advantages include:
- Promoting natural ventilation in the building.
- Protecting openings while maintaining airflow.
- Creating facades with a strong architectural identity.
- Integrating design and functionality within the building envelope.
