More than 2,700 metres of CIVIL channels for Madrid’s new Formula 1 circuit
At a motor racing circuit, infrastructure is exposed to particularly demanding conditions. Heavy loads, high speeds and the need to ensure effective water drainage make a reliable drainage system essential to the proper operation of the facilities.
As part of the project to build the new facilities for the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, ULMA has supplied more than 2,700 linear metres of heavy-duty drainage channels from its CIVIL range.
The solution has been installed in two key areas of the new circuit: the Pit Lane and La Monumental, one of the circuit’s stand-out corners.
A solution engineered for heavy loads
Motor racing circuits require drainage systems that can withstand high mechanical demands while ensuring efficient water drainage.
Channels from the CIVIL range were used for this project. Designed for heavy-duty applications, they are particularly well suited to environments where strength and hydraulic performance are critical.
With more than 2,700 linear metres supplied, the project demonstrates ULMA’s ability to provide drainage solutions for large-scale infrastructure with exacting performance requirements.

Drainage at key points around the circuit
The drainage systems supplied by ULMA have been installed in two key areas of the project:
Pit Lane
The Pit Lane is one of the most important areas of any racing circuit. Here, the drainage channels form part of the infrastructure designed to ensure effective water drainage.
La Monumental
La Monumental stands out for its distinctive design and steep banking. In an environment with these characteristics, careful drainage planning is particularly important for effective water management.
Experience in drainage for motor racing circuits
ULMA has extensive experience in providing drainage solutions for motor racing circuits, including renowned venues such as the Circuit de Barcelona–Catalunya, Circuito de Jerez and Circuito de Navarra – Los Arcos.
At each one, our systems help ensure effective water drainage in infrastructure exposed to demanding conditions.
This experience enables ULMA to provide solutions tailored to the specific requirements of each circuit, taking into account factors such as loads, water management and the particular characteristics of each layout.
When drainage also contributes to performance
In infrastructure where every element must perform reliably, drainage plays a role that extends far beyond removing water.
Choosing the right solution brings together strength, hydraulic capacity and durability to meet the specific requirements of each project.
