New F500 Trench Drains
As extreme weather events become more frequent, infrastructure drainage systems are being pushed beyond the limits they were originally designed to handle.
Heavy rainfall can quickly overwhelm conventional surface drainage solutions, especially in large-scale industrial and transportation environments where water accumulation may disrupt operations, create safety hazards, and increase maintenance costs.
To address these growing challenges, ULMA introduces the new F500 trench drain range — a high-capacity drainage solution specifically engineered for demanding infrastructure and heavy stormwater flow conditions.
Engineered to handle extreme water volumes
The defining feature of the F500 system is its exceptional hydraulic performance.
With a 20-inch internal width, the system delivers one of the largest hydraulic intake capacities currently available in the trench drainage market.
The design provides a water intake area of in² per linear foot, improving surface runoff collection efficiency. Depending on the selected model, the hydraulic cross-section reaches:
- 388 in² hydraulic cross-section for the 22-inch deep channel
- Up to 487 in² for the 28-inch version
This increased drainage capacity allows the system to evacuate large stormwater volumes faster and more reliably during peak flow events.
As infrastructure projects continue to face more intense rainfall scenarios, hydraulic capacity has become a critical design requirement rather than an optional performance feature.

Heavy-duty trench drains designed for extreme load conditions
In logistics facilities, ports, airports, and industrial sites, drainage systems must withstand more than just water flow. They also need to perform under constant heavy traffic and extreme mechanical stress.
For this reason, the F500 trench drain system incorporates reinforced steel edge rails designed to resist continuous heavy loading and demanding operating conditions.
The system is engineered to meet the demanding requirements of heavy-duty infrastructure applications while remaining ADA & AASHTO compliant.
Applications for large-scale infrastructure projects
The F500 range was developed for environments where both hydraulic reliability and structural durability are essential.
Typical applications include:
- High-volume logistics and distribution centers
- Industrial facilities with continuous truck traffic
- Port terminals exposed to aggressive operating environments
- Airports and aircraft maneuvering areas
- Major transportation infrastructure projects
In these environments, drainage infrastructure must help prevent operational disruptions before they occur.
A drainage solution adapted to modern infrastructure demands
Today’s infrastructure projects are becoming larger, more complex, and increasingly exposed to unpredictable climate conditions.
As a result, traditional drainage systems may no longer provide the hydraulic resilience hydraulic performance capacity required for modern civil engineering projects.
The new F500 trench drain range was developed in response to these evolving challenges, combining high hydraulic capacity, structural durability, and long-term operational reliability for infrastructure applications where performance cannot be compromised.
